AFTERX IRC NETWORK RULES
You have typed /RULES and below is a rather wordy reply about AfterX's
values, and complements the server rules (see server's MOTD).
IRC is not a place for children, or people who are sensitive - so if you
knee-jerk react to an offhand comment, then IRC isn't probably the place
for you. Often jokes, though not insulting, are in bad taste and
of an "adult" nature. This is common for the majority of IRC, and AfterX
is no exception. AfterX's official channels allow people to chat in
any way they please as long it does not infringe on our values. Other
channels here not owned officially by AfterX will have their own rules.
Although we have these values, we do not rigourously monitor our entire
network traffic for 24hrs a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year - mostly
because it's not in our resources to do so, but also we respect people's
right to some privacy.
We try to be a friendly network, treating each other with respect and as
such, we ask that, as a condition to have the privilege to stay connected
on this network:
1) No racial remarks of any kind are permitted in ANY channels. IF a
substantiated complaint is made, AfterX will act on it.
2) "Bots" are not welcomed on AfterX. Infected clients or clients
distributing virii or unwanted files of any description will be treated
as "Bots". Bots will be removed without warning by scripts or by staff.
However, a distinction is made for "friendly bots" - non-malicious bots
that are used in a channel, with the channel founder's permission, for
the purposes of friendly interaction, help or safeguards are welcomed on
AfterX.
3) No spamming or flooding of any kind is allowed. This includes
unsolicited mass advertising of a channel and mass invites. Spammers
and flooders will be treated as "Bots".
4) The official main channel is #AfterX and it permits swearing,
sexual chats, teasing, and "friendly insults" and any other chat that
does not infringe on our values. However, the other AfterX official
channels - #afterx-help and #vhost are NOT chatting channels, and if
the conversation is not of a "help call" nature, then the chat will be
stopped. ALL official channels are multi-lingual - people are welcome
to chat in their own language as long our values are not broken.
5) Genuine ban or ignore evasions are not tolerated on AfterX. Expect
a not so friendly word/action from us.
6) AfterX will give help and advice as far as it is reasonable. However,
AfterX will not get involved with tit-for-tat issues. If this becomes
evident during our help, then we may stop providing help in these cases
nor do we get embroiled in channel wars. Other users better deserve our
attention.
7) As a small network, our staff cannot be realistically available 24hrs,
7days a week for 365 days a year. As such, don't be offended if calls
for help go unnoticed during quiet times - we aren't ignoring you, we just
have other things to do such as sleeping. That said, we are fully staffed.
8) Asking for an elevated status, eg, voice in an AfterX official channel
or IRCop powers will very likely see you meet an untimely and rude end.
9) Misuse of Services such as mass registrations or blocking tactics is an
abuse of services. Impersonating another IRCop or Services is an abuse of
AfterX's services and results in a prompt and rude response by AfterX.
Illegal activities are not welcomed here and will be seen as an abuse of
services.
10) These values are simple to follow and we have one more request - enjoy
sailing AfterX! If you are not happy about anything, for whatever reasons,
then talk to an AfterX staff member, or post a message to our forums, see address
below.
