Committees

AfterX has several committees to lessen the load on the main authorative committee - the Network Committee which is known as net-com. All committees perform a specific role as outlined clearly in the AfterX Charter.

All committees have a chairperson, nominated by the committee or by net-com if required and sits on net-com only as an observer. Committee chairpersons cannot vote or influence the votes, although he/she may offer guideance or overrule outcomes which will adversely affect AfterX as a whole.

Committees contain members and non-voting/non-influential observers - the make up may be defined quite specifically by the Charter or by its own chairperson if the charter permits flexibility. The members are usually those with voting powers.

The proceedings and how votes are conducted are not for public release. However, the outcome are often public, and wherever possible, the fact that there is a voting on a subject should be made public if it is in the best interests of AfterX (for example, some users or staff may want to say something.
